Here is what we know about the horses:
My neighbor has 2 arabians she is looking to give away. Both horses have been taken care of as far as being fed, dewormed, vaccinated and having their feet done. The mare around 22 years had foundered in the past and is sometimes sore on her front end especially after her feet are trimmed. The gelding is 16 and is a gorgeous gray that looks like a million dollars when he is turned out but lame in the left hind when ridden. The previous owner said he had a dislocated hip but he sure can move soundly at times and I wonder if that is the case. He may be okay for light occasional trail riding at a walk.
The mare Maharrah is 22 and has papers and is the chronic founder mare but has not been on any meds or special shoes. She does get sore when trimmed and the farrier she uses does not do the best job so she may improve with a good farrier. The gelding Rusty has no papers and was given to the current owner because of his hip problem. He is a drop dead gorgeous boy especially when he does his Arab thing and prances around and dances in place. I rode him the other day just to see what he was like and he was very responsive but pranced the first part of the ride then settled down and did a nice little pleasure trot-a lame trot. The current owner has never ridden either of them. He was just estatic to be ridden but I think he would need to be limited to very occasional walking trail rides since I am not sure what his issues are (like I said the previous owner said his hip was dislocated after being traumatically removed from being cast in his stall for sometime). We do not have any other history besides that-I would love to know how he is bred since he is so cute. Of course the mare is not rideable.
